週刊少年ジャンプの黄金期を支えたマンガの一つに幽遊白書があります。
連載開始初回に主人公の浦飯幽助が死んでしまうといういきなりな展開が思い出されます。たしか、巻頭カラーでしたね。
開始当初は、前作である「てんで性悪キューピット」の色を期待していたのですが、中身は一転してバトル物でした。
なにより幽助が、ただのチンピラから成長してく様は読者にとって毎回期待感があったのではないでしょうか。
最初のうちは、展開もさほど面白くなく事件を解決していくのですが、幻海編あたりから幽助の成長が楽しみになってきました。
最終話の海のシーンは今でもニヤけてしまう名シーンです。
そんなマンガですが、アニメも面白かったです。特にオープニングの馬渡松子の微笑みの爆弾は名曲ととれるぐらい子供のころの人気はあったように思えます。
ちなみに作者本人いわく、当初予定していたタイトルは「幽☆遊☆記（ゆうゆうき）」だったが、同時期に連載が開始された漫☆画太郎作『珍遊記（ちんゆうき）』とかぶるので『幽☆遊☆白書』となった、との事らしいですよ。
