コードギアスのことを当ブログでも書いていますが、なぜ「コードギアス」がここまでヒットしたのか？について少し考えてみました。
もともと深夜枠でのＴＶ放映。時間帯的に見てもヒットする枠ではないです。
しかし、深夜枠から日曜夕方枠へとシフトしたということは一般的に見ると昇進したと思えることでしょう。
深夜アニメというと、「新世紀エヴァンゲリオン」のヒットが思い出されますね。
では、なぜ昇進（ヒット）したのか？
コードギアスの主人公であるルルーシュは、一人の学生。元皇子という肩書きはあっても表面上はそれを隠している。ということは、一般個人と変わらない。ただ、少し頭が切れるということ以外は。
ギアスという力を持って、一個人から私団体の結成。そして、一国の建設。
このことから、「やればできる」ということを視聴者は学べることでしょう。
しかし、ここで意味を履き違えてはダメです。
「やればできる」の「やれば」とは才能であり、努力の結果です。
ルルーシュの場合、ギアスという「才能」を手に入れ、計画という「努力」を惜しまなかったから、「ゼロ」という記号が存在できたわけです。あの「ゼロ」を玉城や扇が演じたのでは同じ結果にはならなかったと思います。
しかし、アニメ上は「努力」という部分は放映時間の都合上、表現されていません。
表面上から見ると、才能を手に入れると誰でもできるという錯覚に陥るかもしれません。
コードギアスというアニメは、昔のようなスポ根アニメでありがちな、「血を吐く努力」というのはありません。美しくないですからね。
コードギアスは、普通の人からすると「リフレン」のような幻想を見せてくれるアニメ。だからこそここまでヒットした。そう思えます。
（ヒットした理由は、監督・スタッフの努力、企画・マーケティング戦略もあったことを付け加えておきます。）
